Collaborating with colleges
It's difficult making films in the UK, but it is especially difficult in Scotland and within that... It is more difficult still in Edinburgh.
Nearly all the video and film production are concentrated in Glasgow. What can Edinburgh do?
One thing worth trying is working with colleges. Edinburgh College has studios, equipment and crew. Students need experience. Film makers need crews.
Creative Scotland needs to make every pound it spends go as far as possible... Perhaps utilising the potential of the Colleges is a good way to make the money go further.
One thing is for certain.
The colleges are turning out way more students than the industry can handle; so surely it would be to everyone's advantage if some link could be made between encouraging growth and output in the industry and ensuring that the students, when they arrive at the gates are fit for purpose.
